Dr Dimitrios Giotikas is the founder and Clinical director of Athens Bone & Joint Reconstruction Centre.
He is fully registered, revalidated and licensed to practice Orthopaedics in the United Kingdom and in Greece.
He splits his professional time between Greece and the United Kingdom where he works at his private practice in London and Cambridge.
He also holds a honorary consultant post for research with Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust.
His clinical interest is focused on limb reconstruction (including limb lengthening, the management of bone infections and limb deformities), knee surgery and complex orthopaedic trauma.

Training & Qualifications
In 1998, Dr Dimitrios Giotikas graduated from the Military Medical Academy of Greek Army and from the Medical School of Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki in Greece and started his career as a medical officer of Hellenic Army.
In 2008, he obtained the qualification of the specialist Surgeon in Trauma & Orthopaedics.
In 2012, Dimitrios Giotikas started his sub-specialization in complex trauma and limb reconstruction (lengthening, correction of deformities, bone defects) in Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom.
In 2013, he obtained the prestigious title of member of the Hellenic College of Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeons.
In 2016, Dimitrios Giotikas acquired the PhD qualification from the Medical School of University of Thessaly, Greece, for his research on the subject of Minimally invasive techniques on Total knee Replacement. The related publication has received more than 95 citations.

Dr Dimitrios Giotikas is currently working as a Consultant Surgeon in Trauma & Orthopaedics at his private practice in Athens (Greece) and also in London and Cambridge (United Kingdom).
In addition to his clinical practice, he holds an Honorary Consultant post at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust for research and academic purposes.
Previous posts
Upon completion of the specialty training in 2008, Dr D.Giotikas was appointed as Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics at the Military Hospital of Larissa, Greece.
In 2009, he was deployed with Hellenic Army and NATO in Northern Afghanistan, where he worked for four months as a consultant at a NATO Combat Support hospital. When he returned, he was appointed back at the Military Hospital of Larissa as a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics.
In 2012, Dr Dimitrios Giotikas moved to UK to work at the Orthopaedic Trauma Unit of Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge; where he further sub-specialized in complex trauma, lower limb reconstruction and lengthening and in the management of chronic bone infections and deformities.
In 2015, he was successfully revalidated according to UK laws and regulations.
In 2016 he founded Athens Bone & Joint Reconstruction Centre in Athens, Greece.
In March 2017, Dr Dimitrios Giotikas was offered the appointment of Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer of the faculty of Medical Science at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK.
In January 2018, Dr Giotikas was appointed as a consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
In March 2019, he was appointed as a consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust.
