Bone Transport
Bone transport is a method that is indicated when we want to fill bone defects with new bone. Such bone defects can occur after bone infections, excision of bone tumours or complex severe fractures of the long bones ( femur, tibia, humerus).
Utilizes the principle of distraction osteogenesis.
Historically it was done with external fixators but in the recent years all internal bone transport nail from nuvasive has allowed bone transport without the cumbersome of the external fixator.
